I have started to decorate our kids/guest bathroom and I wanted to create an inexpensive art collage. I ordered some cheap frames from amazon but when they came they were not the color I had envisioned. With just one can of spray paint, painters tape, and some computer paper I was able to transform them into the color and look I was wanting!Ā
S T E P 1: Ā Prep is important!Ā
These are the frames before I painted them. (It’s hard to tell what color they are in the photos) I was hoping when they arrived they would be more of a deep brushed gold and not a light gold/silver straight out of the 80’s. Yikes.Ā
I cut computer paper to fit over the glass (the glass in these frames wouldn’t come out so I had to cover them), cut strips of painters tape and sealed the edges, then I was ready to paint!Ā
S T E P 2: Time to paint!Ā
I used Krylon Premium Metallic paint in color 18K Gold. I set up a tarp outside, put my gloves on and started to spray away!Ā
These frames dried in less than 15 minutes and I was able to take the tape off and we hung the photos the same afternoon.Ā
S T E P 3:Ā
Put your art work in your frames and get them hung!Ā
This was the first time I have spray painted frames, and it has given me inspiration for all my other “ugly” frames I have in a box in a closet. Since I am truly a serial re-decorater, this was an inexpensive way to make quick and dramatic changes without breaking the bank.Ā
So after all is said and done I am happy with how these frames turned out! They brighten up the kids smaller bathroom, and compliment the color scheme we are going for. They also brighten up some of the art work I chose for their gallery wall.Ā
Thanks for being here and for reading!Ā
